Grease on your ball(s)??

Rams' Trailer TPMS anyone?

There must be Quite a few Airstream owners on here. I know of a couple. Maybe we should have our own little corner for Pic's

Yup, it's an Airstream

We bought this 2007 30' Classic Ltd a few years ago and have enjoyed the heck out of it. We used to tent camp and I just decided to pass on the intermediate steps, went direct to this one and we have really enjoyed it. Oh, one other thing, if you look close you see it has a slide out. Hickory real wood interior pretty top of the line I understand for an Airstream.

It does get some looks, are they still making them? I didn't know they made slides, how old is it?

The Dodge pulls it handily and it fits us just right. And hydraulic brakes to boot.

I know a bunch of 'em are in TDR hands, let's see em.

They really are great looking trailers. This thread might set off an appetite that will only be snuffed out with my very own Airstream!

My wife and I bought a new 27' Airstream Land Yacht in 1975 and traded it for a new 31' Airstream Excella 1982. We towed both of them for hundreds of thousands of miles all over the lower 48 and several provinces in Canada (with big block Chevys) before changing to fifth wheels in 1988. In hindsight, we should have kept the '82. It was a great trailer.

I've owned four Airstreams and an Avion but moved to fifthwheels about ten years ago. I liked Airstreams a lot when I owned one. Their aerodynamic design and construction makes them the easiest towing trailers ever built. I toured the Airstream factory at Jackson Center, OH probably a dozen different times and the spun off Henschen plant that built (builds?) the rubber torsion axles nearby. All very interesting.

Harvey,

We're most likely going to tour the Mother Ship this spring. Heard nothing but good reviews about the tour and in particular the tour guide Guru.

While the better 1/2 and I were driving around for years and years, she would say There goes my trailer when an AS went by. She had no idea what it was, never been in one me neither in fact. Knew we liked camping, just passed the intermediate steps and found a dealer in SC that has used only, found our S/O model. For a kick, she has maybe 25+ Spartans on the lot in various conditions. Those are hard to describe.

Gary,

The man that was doing the tours years back when I owned Airstreams, '92 through about 2000, was a retired Airstream manufacturing employee, very knowledgeable, and had a great attitude and people skills. A lot of years have passed since then so he may not be there any longer.

In the 70's I remember seeing caravans of them coming through Edmonton. They would all park in a big empty parking lot in the river valley. Most of the tow vehicles were big cars but some trucks. There is one I see at a local campground that looks like it was rolled as the skin is all dented but it doesn't move very much, just sits there for the whole summer. I guess you either love them or hate them. Shad

Harvey,

I just checked on Airforums and the tour guide mentioned is Don A. he is spoken of very kindly from tour participants.

Bob,

Thats something that is a unique thing about the Airstream fanatics. Someone will find a vintage unit and do a shell gutting, shell off frame resoration or even frame replacement and put it all back together. Seen a couple and they are a time capsule look back.

Some of the coolest pic's are of big old full size sedans pulling one or a 60's vintage or older caravan with a bunch of Dodges, Chevy's, Fords or the IH Travelall and P/U. Then the ladies are in skirts, men have suit coats on, wild.
