Looking to put a few lights in the side of my Round side step with these lights

These are 3/4" round and mount in a hole. If I drill 4 , 3/4" holes equal distance on the step bar, would that weaken the pipe too much? Or am I paranoid?

as steps, you should be fine. but, 3/4" is a fairly large hole and across the curve of the step you may not get them to fit as cleanly as you like.
