Installed a cup smoothie from Geno's on my '08 Ram 1500. Console lid would not latch. Shimmed latch with a couple of washers. Lid latched, now it will not open. Anybody run into this before? Would like to get it open with out tearing anything up.

Push down where the pin is, then try to open while holding the lid down, it worked for me.

Your center console is totally different than the 3rd generation truck. This method probably wont work with the claw-type latch of the 2008 console.

We ran into this when the first came up with the cup smoothie for the 3Gs. You can get the latch to disengage with a thin blade screwdriver without damaging the console or cup smoothie. If you look at the pictures in the installation instructions, you'll see how the latch catches. It's just a matter of contacting the top part of the catch portion of the latch, just below the part that mounts the latch to the console lid, and pushing to disengage the catch. Then, you'll need to shim the latch out a little farther. Basically, the latch needs to be shimmed a hair over the thickness of the cup smoothie. On some trucks, depending on how far we had to shim the latch, we had to use longer screws than the stock ones.
