After 172K miles on my 05 Ram Dually my Cat is toast and maybe contributing to occasional low turbo boost code 299... and a nice loud rumble when idling!
I received a Magnaflow direct fit Bolt on 42" long Cat today. It appears to have the Exhaust Pipe "bends" to match OEM and one end is flared.
I've got a Sawzall so I can cut out the old CAT and exhaust Pipe. Just like Thieves!?
There were no instructions and Magnaflow doesn't offer any (I called) - its just "plumbing" but I asked about the none flared end and they suggested I would need one clamp.
I already put penetrating Oil on the nearby "Guillotine" Exhaust Pipe Hangers in the event any need to be disconnected temporarily.
I would appreciate any tips!
Thanks!

The Magnaflow Direct Bolt kit should fit well with the flared end forward and normal end for the flare on the rear pipe going to the muffler.
I found removing the clamps took PB Blaster and a cheater bar on the 15mm Deep well socket to loosen. Why so tight? A forewarning of trouble ahead!
Since that was eventually successful I went ahead and used the Sawzall to remove the Catalytic Converter leaving about 8" of exhaust pipe (for wiggling, turning, pulling)on either end...
I could find no way to remove the those exhaust pipes, even after making horizontal slices to ease "pressure" on the pipes but none of my tools could remove them.

So a smoking drive to a shop next week....

Use a ratchet strap to the rear bumper, give it a nice tension and then wiggle it. It will come out.
To bad you've already cut it.

That way I took them all apart in the past.

Alas, even the Muffler shop took a while to heat up and remove the left over pieces of pipes after I cut out the CAT...
Still was getting a "Low Boost Code" my little scanner could clear until we were towing the Fiver and had to take the Ram to a Diesel Shop to "really" clear it - at least for now.
