I just bought a TST #8 plate for my 1996. Does anyone have any installation tips to help me along? I just ordered it today so I don't have the video yet. reading the directions from their website has me a little worried. Mainly about the screw that has to be hit with a hand impact tool. Is that screw a pita to get out or what?

I just used a chisel and notched it then used a screwdriver they are not in that tight. Then just put a new hex bolt in instead of the breakoff bolt supplied... ... ..... Rick

I use cordless drill with a 1/4" drill bit that is made for removing broken bolts, turns counter clockwise. Most hardware stores have them with the eze-outs and taps. It will usually catch after the first few revolutions and turn the screw out. Center punch first. You can also drill a small hole in the screw and pound a torx driver bit into it.

It's a bit of a pain but not too bad. I didn't have a hand impact when i did mine so i just used a skinny center punch to get a small depression started and then switched to a small flat blade screw driver and finally a large screwdriver. Took my time pounding on the head of the screw till i got a good slot in it then used vise grips on the screwdriver shank for leverage and had the wife tap on the handle as i pressed and turned. My screw seemed to REAL tight but it came out ok. Just take your time, think carefully before you act and you'll do just fine. I'ts a small pleasure but i assure you that you'll get kick out of it as soon as that screw breaks loose! :D

Good Luck!

Brian
