Best place to buy trailer lights

GNeck adapter, OK or not??

Hey Oregon TDR members:

Does Oregon have a restriction on how wide a trailer can

be without requiring special permits? I want to tow an 8'10"

trailer (27' foot boat on it).

I browsed the ODOT website but can not find any requirements

printed about max width/height.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Anything over 8'6" has to have an over width permit. That doesn't mean you can go for it if your gutsy. If it was me and I didn't have to go far, I'd do it. Can't imagine ODOT running around with tape measures. (over 4")

Now that I think about it, the local gillnetter's just put wide load banners on the front of the truck and stern of the boat and go down the highway. I know they don't have permits...

Not much help, sorry.

hgt/width in Oregon

Check out ORS 818. 080 Max width is 8. 6 inches maximum /hth is 14ft. . If you are at 8ft6 you are OK 8ft 10 you are over the limit and would need a permit and warning signs-.

do not exceed 14ft (as tall as a Semi-trailer) or you will get stopped. if you are over 8ft6 you will need a permit - that prevents the ticket you would get and if for some reason some other vehicle hit you or the trailer and you did not have the appropriate permit or warning signs - very likely you would get sued. when in doubt get the permit and appropriate warning signs !

By the way its not ODOT you have to worry about - any police officer could cite you if you exceed the max width or hgt.

:)
