I am in the middle of clutch change...

Just wondered if anyone had any hints on getting the trans back into its home?

Thanks for the advice... ! :D

I had it on a transmission leveler and I had that on a rolling floor jack, but I supported the back with the stock bottle jack and I wiggled it around until the splines lined up. Then I used some carpenter's clamps to get it close enough for the bolts.

Did'ja get it in yet? At 500 pounds, it's a total PIA. :(

I gave up for the day.

But, I will start tomorrow and try again (I was getting tired too).

Yeah the 5600 is SO BIG!! heavy as a mother too!

we just did my clutch today and wasn't too bad i thought. When you put it back in put the transmission in gear and put a vise grip on the output shaft so you can turn it and get it started a little easier. Don't clamp the vise grips real hard. then just walk it in slowly. It should go right together once it is started through the disk. Mine went in flush with the flywheel housing and then just put the bolts in. I wouldn't advise getting longer bolts or anything to try to pull it together as you can break the disks and other things that way. hope it helps. we did mine in a little over 3 hours on the lift.

Longer bolts are nice though to use to support the transmission. We struggled once on one and did that. PUllled the jack out and got back with our feet and lifted the output shaft with out feet and wiggled it in.

One more thing to add. Make sure the alignment tool for the pilot bushing is nice and tight. Mine was a little loose and was just enough to not make the input shaft go in. I tried sticking it 3 times before finding that out. Just a little bit of black tape and recenter the clutch everything was fine after that.
