Good Conversion Donor

I've recently rejoined the ranks of the employed and am considering building a Cummins powered work ride. Before getting to caught up, I thought I'd see if anyone knows of anything interesting for sale.

I'm driving about 700 miles per week and am thinking a 4bt Willis truck, or a 6BT Ramcharger or Trailduster, ideally with the lift off top.

The challenge would be to make one of the above both dependable and comfortable enough to drive daily.

Any one have any leads?

Thanks, Ronnie

NICE!

Bruce, I second Animal, that's one nice rig. From the signature it sure looks like you've got all the right stuff in place.

My new job is gas pipe line/project inspection and I see lots of driving in my future, at this point, I'm leaning toward something that's capable of fuel mileage in the mid to high 30's (or better). Which means I'm limited to a 4bt conversion. A little Willis truck with highway gears would fit the bill nicely from what I've read.

However if the MPG thing doesn't eliminate your conversion, let me know. I'm guessing solid 20's is the range it'll deliver.

I have an 86 Ford with a 92 Cummins, 4speed Allison, 3speed Brownie, van front w/sleeper, dually.

If you don't like it, be a good drivetrain for something else.

It is priced about what the engine and trans are worth.

Check the TDR classifeds, it is listed there.

As with most projects like this, you generally loose you butt when the time comes to sell it. As it sits I have over 19,000 in materials. It's not quite done yet. I still need to finish up the interior, get a transmission controller installed (I'm flipping switches now), and air conditioning. When it's completely completed I'll be real close to 25,000 in materials. If I were to include my labor you could by a brand new loaded 2003! I'm not foolish enough to think that I'll break even let alone make money on this project. She is quite alot of fun to drive though! I average 16 mpg (my best was 18 mpg). That sure beats the 8 mpg I used to get with the 350 small block it used to have! It's hard to get good milage with POD's(my foot it the problem, not the POD's). I love the looks on peoples faces when I pass them up hill pulling my 24 ft. travel trailer!

project?

I have a '76 regular cab dooley (D300) 2wd that I need to sell. Would make a neat conversion project.
