I had a 20K Drawtite installed a week ago. The only holes are in the side of the frame just like they were on my 01. They used a thick "L" bracket to attach the hitch to the frame. I don't think I have ever had holes drilled in the top of the frame to have one installed. NO welding has ever been done... CJ

Pull Rite has come up with no drill, no weld brackets for some models, I think there is more of a problem with the 2wds and clearance issues. I have a set waiting to be installed, the weather is not cooperating very well here in the northeast. I was going to have it installed on Thursday, but there could be an ice storm and it looks like Tuesday will be the first day that I will be able to get it done. I will keep you posted. BTW I will be installing the 20,500 Super Fifth on my truck and the part number for my brackets is 0827, those have the hitch rails bolted to the brackets.

:D :D

mconstable,

I just put up a post called "5th wheel hitch" it tells about Pull Rites latest no drill solution.

Dean,

You should've built a bigger garage pal ;)

Our local hitch master called Drawtite/Reese and talked to their engineer extraordinaire. He said he has the same write up out of the DC chassis manual with drilling and welding guidelines. He said the no drill rumor is a bunch of hogwash. Drawtite has brackets for '03 2500s and 3500s with the overload springs. I wonder where this rumor got started.

That "rumor" came from DC customer service and their Canadian National Rep on the form of Tech Tip #39.

I had PullRite no drill, no weld brackets put on my truck yesterday along with a 20,500# SuperFive hitch. The install went well and it is a good looking set up, I doubt that it will ever break. I also put on a Prodigy trailer brake and Timbren load levelers.

Dean

Hey Dean,

With a 2000# pin weight the rear of my truck squatted 1 1/2". It still sat rear high. My 2500 would sit level with the trailer. Another problem my tailgate kisses the trailer when hitching, so watch it !

Fireman

Thanks, Fireman.

I should be okay because I have the towing tailgate and I had the trailer built 3" high at the factory because of the Dodge 4x4 height. It fit my 98 okay, so we'll keep our fingers crossed. I'll be towing on Saturday.
