Pretty simple question, probably with a not so simple answer. My '05 has the thin, black, non-chipped key. Is there any way to activate the sentry system and get chipped keys to match?

I have already installed a nice kill switch, but every little bit helps, ya know?

I looked at adding this to my 2005. I didn't log into the site above, but here is where I found the add on Sentry II System:

I decided against this add on for a couple of reasons.

1. It has to be installed exactly by the instructions. If a step is omitted or isn't done correctly, the system will not work. Even some Dodge shops have had trouble adding this on and getting all the functions to work right.

2. It has to be coded in, by your Dodge shop, using their tool to access the computer. Unless you have a someone who will waive the shop charge, I've been told it runs about $75 for their time.

3. I decided the coded keys were just not worth the cost or problems with getting them coded in right. You can find the blank keys on eBay, but if you buy them from the dealer be prepared for the 5 Star **** job on the price.

4. Your extra kill switch will probably work just as well by itself without all the extra hassle and cost... JMHO... ;)
