Hey guys, just wonderin'.

I saw a set of Cooper Discovery SST 33x12. 5xR17LT at a local tire shop. $229 a tire Plus tax, mount, etc.

Will these fit on a '06 Dually? How do they perform?

I have ran Coopers before, and so far, have never worn a set out. They always throw the tread, or blow-out (Maybe has to do with my 100+mph runs for an hour or two at a time. Michelins hold up fine though)

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anybody knew, or knows anything about these tires.

Thanks,

Merrick

I have a set of these on my Ford Conversion in 285-75R16, they are a good agressive tire, but are a little noisy. I can't really hear the tires over the 4" SP though. Have only about 500 miles on them, so time will tell to see how they wear with the heavy CTD up front.

I Ran A Set But Took Them Off And Went To 35x12. 5x17 's Bfg M/t , Nice Tire , 95% You Can T Here Them , Nice Tire And I M Going To Have Them Siped In October For The Winter

That sounds like a really good price for a pair if they are Load Range E's. I would snatch them up quick.

I have run SSTs on my trucks and never had a problem. Been running the STs lately as they have been easier for me to get.

Opps! Reread your post $229 EACH. Ouch!

i also ran a set, they were good for the first months then they seem to get hard and sucked in the rain and snow, took them off and put a set of toyo's on, i would not buy them again... . just my 0. 02

I have a set on right now. I can't really say anything good or bad about them. I have about 4k miles on them and the tread is showing signs of wear already and they are loud but other than that they seem ok. BTW- I got mine on ebay for $800 shipped.

I had a set of these on my last truck (3/4 ton Chevy 4x4) and I enjoyed them. You have to make sure to keep after the inflation pressure and rotate them somewhat regularly if you want them to last. They are pretty noisy, moreso as they start to get down to 50% tread and below.

I currently have a set of 265/70/r17 (E rated) Cooper Discoverer ST's on my Ram. I only have a few hundred miles on them, but so far they seem to be a bit quieter than the STT's.

I wouldn't recommend driving over 85 on any tire not rated for it, especially for extended periods. Just because luck has worked in the past does not mean it will continue in the future regardless of brand. I see no reason to drive quite that fast for quite that long except on the Autobahn. At least on the Coopers if they aren't otherwise marked with a rating, the maximum speed they're rated for is 85mph.

Just my opinion, there is only one tire, Michelin, all the rest are imitations. Being 78 does not make me more knowledgeable, just gave me more time to learn the hard way.

Cool.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I've ran Michelins and Kumho's (14ply) and they hold up very well. I've never even balled up a Michelin, but almost every other brand I have broken a belt, blown out, thrown a tread, or made out of round.

I'm really looking for a very aggressive looking tire to give the truck that "look", but I know I won't really be using this truck for much more than looking pretty. I would like to run some 33" Super Swampers, but I'm just not sure.

I'm just not sure to do, I want the truck to have some presence on the road, but don't want a tire that will hurt my truck, or give poor handling. (I can handle Mickey T's Baja Radials 37. 5x12. 5xR16 without a sweat, so the rubber should be on par or better than that tire.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks,

Merrick

I ran them on my 2nd gen. I got less than 20,000 miles out of em (17,000) I think. Decent tire I just don't like buying tires every year or so. I have the ATR's now and have no issues.

MCummings,

Looking at your readers rigs, I can't see why you are needing tires or you can't find a tire that holds up well! :-laf

Yah. What's up with that anyway? Tires don't do to well with me, clutches, trannies, and motors don't like me that much either... :-laf

This latest setup, HX-35/16 an HT3B/22 with a Piers Cam, a Head, and Peters Dual Disc sure make this truck a tire frier.
