Yeah, they are here in town. They're pretty proud of those rifles ($), so most folks just carry a Marlin 1895 in . 45-70 or a 12ga w/ slugs for bears. They are very nice rifles, though.

If you have your own 45-70 and send it to them they will rework yours for a savings. 2 to 3 grand ain't bad for the amount of work that they do to the weapon.

Nice! But for that $$$ my standard ol guide gun will have to do.

I handload, so you can bump up the old 45-70 pretty good with modern rifle steel.

I dont really want to encounter something that 405 gr's @ 1800 FPS cant handle anyway. :{

Patriot,

My ex supervisor has his 45-70 with hand loads up to 2600 fps. It is so powerful that it partly opens the breech. A bit risky for me but he kills the heck out of the grizzlies.

exceeding the manuals is putting it lightly. He and another friend worked that load for months. I have a . 375 Ackley Improved that the case is loaded with 88 grains of IMR 4350 for a velocity of 2900 fps for a 300 grain round nose. It has way more energy than a . 458. I can get 3 reloads on the case before the primers and belt start to flatten but it is a ***** cat to shoot. Totally custom rifle.
