The thing that tells you how many feet/inches before you smash your rear bumper into some immovable object. Is it worth it?

Which one do you mean? My wife used the WhiteKnights backup lights I put on her truck for a backup indicator - when they broke, she stopped. It's kind of expensive, and only works once... .

Sorry, couldn't help that:D

I love her anyway!

I've been thinking about one of those rear step thingies. You know the ones that fit in the hitch reciever and looks like a nerf bar. I figure you could back up untill you feel the bump, and your rear bumper would be exactly 6 " away from whatever is behind you. :D

Yes, Shovelhead, thats what I was talking about. The Parking Partner.

I prefer to be a polite driver and not put my hitch ball through someones grill while parallel parking or backing into a spot in a parking lot.

What I'm curious about is how wide of a spread does it cover. I once backed into a low boulder that was to the right of center and put a nice dent in my bumper on the right side. Another time I backed into a piece of railroad rail driven into the ground and sticking up only about 2 to 3 feet.

With a 4x4 you need one of those closed circut cameras like those motorhomes use. I can't see anything behind my truck.

I park in the boonies and walk so I don't need to see what's directly behind.

My "Hood Opener" is only used on the one's that decide to hit me from behind at stop signs and red lights. (3 times so far:mad: )

Haven't scratched the bumper yet. ;)
