Southern Invitational Indoor T&T Pull--Jan 12&13

Hey guys - sorry to interject on this thread, but I was wondering if any of you could give me any info on what appears to be the "main" part of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island? I'm trying to start planning a small vacation on the Gulf for the lady and me this summer, and an uncle of mine said Sanibel was a great place to visit - fairly secluded and not over-developed. But it's been about 12 years since he has been there.

Any marked differences in Captiva Island vs. Sanibel Island? The place I *think* I would like to stay at is actually on Captiva, but it looks like it may be 10 miles or more to the closest restaurant.

Basically, I'm looking for a place off the beaten path that's not covered up with shopping centers and fast food restuarants, but is still relatively close to civilization. We usually "adapt" to any available activities in the area, so I'm really not that concerned on "what there is to do" there. Good restaurants are always a plus though. ;)

Any recommendations on places to stay are also welcome!

I was going to start a thread in the Southeast section, but then I saw you Florida guys had an active thread going. If any of you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to send a PM to keep this thread clean.

Thanks!

I think after one of the last hurricanes Captiva is C north and C south. C north boat only.

I was on Sanibel about 4 years ago. Nice laid back, pricy, quiet, relaxing, pricy. Boutique type shops, controlled buildup.

I would go back, but shop carefully for lodging ($$). We rented a cottage on the beach for a week out of season. Took our bikes, good bike ride place.

You might be able to go a little further south and get better prices and a little lesser known.

I have the 18th blocked out, looking forward to it

I am going to try to make it for the March 18 meet also.

I used to live down in fort Myers. One of the larger resorts on Captivia is called South seas Plantation. There used to be many places to rent on sanibel, can be expensive in the winter but not bad in the summertime. Sanibel is much more laid back thay say Fort Myers Beach. There has been alot of growth in the Fort Myers area, but the beach areas have not had as much due to high land costs.

Hope this helps

Well I will hopefully be there... but I am truckless. Due to the divorce last year I was possibly going to have to sell my '04... had some work to make the $$ to give the ex. . but the job never came through... so the guy is picking it up in about 30 minutes from now. :(

Only good news is I should have enough money after paying the ex to find another used truck. Anyone got a 12 valve 2nd gen 5 speed for sale?

I would like to come down. Is anyone keeping track of how many trucks will be there. Is there any interest in a wrench session. Timing, kdp, anything else. I have no real experience but, I have tools and I'll take a stab at it if others are doing it on there trucks as well.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'll bring my 2x4x12 blocks I use for ramps (6 side by side on the first tier, 4 side by side on the second tier (all perpendicular to the direction of tire travel, I use so I can get my gut under the running boards :-laf ) and some moving blankets if anyone wants to look under. Mainly I have done a bunch with the fuel system. Some ideas worked better than others.

I'll bring the temp gun too if anyone wants to give theirs a drive and see what their VP frame temps are.

Crawling under mainly to eyeball mounting etc RACOR 690 fuel filter, RACOR 802 bypass oil filter, RASP, tank vent line taps, transmission cooler, fuel coolers, lp on frame rail, VP cool down timer / blower, I'll bring the fan wrenches you can get here on TDR, thermal blanketing the fuel system, Smarty, and anything else I can think of.

Mine is a 2002 ETC, if someone else brings a 2002 ETC stock we can swap rides and show what the Smarty does and how easy it is to do it.

TTT = To The Top

If a post needs to be brought back up, in this case as a reminder of the meeting, and nothing really is added, then I (and many others) use TTT as a shorthand.

I also put in the date as a reminder which in actuality would have brought it to the top anyway.

Hey guys, sorry I missed this--how was it?

I've been kind of out of touch for a few weeks--actually, I'm still at work in California even as I type this, with an unknown return date (although it has to be in time to leave again April 4th for the Easter Jeep Safari).

Lookin forward to the next

Hey guys

Had a great time, was great to meet everyone.

Guess I am the new guy in group.

will have to work on the next place to meet, so far Bradenton Drag Way seems to be the choice.

Hope we can do one of these once a month.

If anyone has anything going on in their neck of the woods let us know.

Local friendly Dodge dealer :)

Speed shop.

Local car show.

Open for suggestions!

Thanks Again.

Scott

PS Everyone will have to tell me there names again. Got a bad case of CRS.

Start talkin trucks and forget everything else. :)

Anyone Up For Another Meet ?

Just seeing if we can get together again.

Add a few more trucks.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Scott
