Anybody run em? how well do they wear - 315/75/16's are going for about $140 per tire- that is about $50 cheaper than a bfg/goodyear mudder of the same size- I figure that there has got to be a reason for the tire to be 25% cheaper-

Might check the Cooper tires. My dad lives in Arkansas and he runs a set of those Cooper tires on his 84 Blazer. I have seen him go places in 2wd that I had to use 4wd to go. So far they have worn real well for him. .

I run 305/70/17 Buckshots on mine. ~34x12 Great tires. I had a set on my Jeep before and liked 'em. They come from the factory siped and pinned for studs. Better traction in the rain than any other mud tire I've tried.

I'm on my second set of 305/70 Buckshot Mudders. I've got no complaints at all, and I made the switch from BFG's to Maxxis. Was real happy with the BFG's, but the Maxxis, as you said, are considerably cheaper. I went a little over 50K on my first set of Maxxis, which I thought was extremely good for an aggressive mud tire (and the extra weight of not only a CTD, but 400# of pipe bumper hanging on the front). Mine tend to balance relatively easy, and are a smooth running tire. They do get kind of loud on the highway, but a straight pipe tends to overpower the tire drone.

I had a friend that had a 96 1 ton ctd and purchased a set of ... . I think 37's. Don't hold me to that, anyway he installed the tires before he installed the rim spacer. Without the inside tire in the rear dully set up, the seemed to wear pretty fast. He was a rodeo guy and they stack on the miles. Just my opinion, they wore way to fast for our use. take it for what it is worth. Good luck.
