Thanks to everbody that provided valuable advice in my recent thread regarding the choice between 4" or 5" in/out with a Donaldson 51" muffler. I'm focused on the M090535, which is a 5". Since I may do a turbo with 5" outlet someday, I'm thinking of down-stream compatibility now ... I'm not a big fan of doing things twice! It would be costly and pointless to do anything with the downpipe and cat at this time, and I have yet to find a 5" cat that is clearly street legal. So the plan for now is to retain everything until after the cat, then expand 4" to 5" to enter the Donaldson. I could s-pipe out of the muffler and reduce 5" to 4" to tie in with stock tailpipe section. But once again contemplating an eventual full 5" system, I think it might be a waste of exhaust shop labor and parts (either a custom s-pipe/reducer, or off the shelf s-pipe and off the shelf reducer), so why not just carry the 5" all the way to exit? There are a few 5" systems (Magnaflow for instance) that have the tailpipe I need, but I don't want their muffler or anything else. Are there any

5" tailpipes available solo? Or should I be looking into having one fabbed locally? I'm guessing muffler shops that stock and bend 5" tubing are few and far between.

Im currently working on the exact same system you are. I just bought a MPI twins system that comes with a 5" down pipe and the same Donaldson Muffler you have. I was going to start by calling Source Automotive (Rip). My goal was to use V-band clamps at all the connections, for easy of assembly. This would allow me to release the clamps and throw my cat on within minutes. I had a HORRIBLE time this past year disassembling my current exhaust and making it legal for emissions test. Plus with V-band clamps if I dont like the system, I can EASILY modify it. No welds to or smashed clamp ends to deal with.

Just a thought.

Call Bryan at Diesel Power Products, he will sell you a Diamond eye 5" tailpipe. then just use flat band clamps for ease of install/unistall. Or Rip will probably do the same, just giving you another option.
