I love my 727... It engages strong, I get great acceleration and it shifts awesome... I wouldn't hesitate to tow anything with it. the transmission temp gauge indicates that it stays cool too, but I also installed the mag hytec deep sump. The problem is that I'm having manual envy... I'll even take a gutbag just so I can have full control of the driveline/truck! Anybody else with a slushbox have the urge to convert or trade their truck in for a manual???

I sure do and I am goin crazy!

The only other Cummins manual I've driven was an '05 6spd. WOW guess I haven't recovered. My dad's '97 is an auto... so no luck there... I'm studying up on my 2nd gen bombs so I can corrupt him as well. #ad
I'm thinking BHAF and silencer ring first so he starts to really hear it sing!!!

i feel your pain man. got caught monday last monday. over due inspection. so she doesn't move too much. so i have to drive my mom's auto car. i hate it!!!!

I've been through the "I didn't buy the truck I really wanted" before, so this time I didn't give auto trucks a second look. I found out it is really hard to find a manual 4x4 in the west that isn't junk. Anyway, I found what I wanted in my area, surprise, surprise!

Manual to Automatic

I guess I am just jealous of you auto guys. I get tired of rowing through the gears. My plan is to go from a manual to an auto. I will be gathering parts and when I have everything that I need I will do the swap. I am still a ways out though. I have some big plans for the old girl in the next month or so. It will include a new paint job. Living right on the coast has taken its toll over the last three or so years. I wouldnt trade my pickup for anything.

The Cummins and standard transmissions go together, like bread and butter. Come drive my CTD powered Ford, It has 15 forward and 3 reverse gears. You might heal up for a few days!!

Me too T Kingsbury, in 1991 I bought a brand new f150 5. 0 autotragic,ok truck but not what I wanted. Went back to my trusty old 69 f100 302 t18 4 spd, and then a couple of ford 7. 3's. Then in 1999 I found a pair of brand new 98 2500 2wd quad cabs on the internet at chaprell dodge in ada oklahoma ( I live in ca). They were beautiful sister trucks driftwood in color (silver) only one was a 215 hp 12v, and the other a 24v. Decisions, decisions. Well, prescribing to the simpler is better theory, I opted for the 12v 215hp ( much better than the 180hp egr equipped cr** I'd of been stuck with in the peoples republic of cali) Could'nt be happier with it. But I was still using my 69 ford as a beater and really needed something heavier duty to tow my 12kgvw dump trailer/843 bobcat combo ( when not using the 98). So when I ran across a clean 91. 5 4x4 5 spd in the costco parking lot for 4K a year ago, I snapped it up. I'm still in the process of dialing it in as a work truck and I love it! Old school like my 69 yet so much better. Wind wings and a flat spot on the top of the door for your arm. You gotta love that! It's the truck I SHOULD HAVE bought in 91. Oh well, better late than never. K2

i'm the same way... i hate guys with the manual CTD's (well not hate, but envy!) cause I don't have one! I still haven't let myself live this one down... when I first bought my truck years ago, I bought a '91 3speed auto 2 wheel drive. What I really wanted was what I found a month or so ago after I bought this truck. . a '92 4x4 5 speed... AHHH, if I only would have just waited!! I would love to swap my auto for a manual, but can anyone say $$$? Stomp you wanna trade your manual for my auto?? :D ;)
