Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Anybody want to help with a clutch swap in Minooka ?

I want to swap my ofe for an fe. My buddy will let me use his shop with a 10k lift. He does not have a transmission jack. Think I will just use my floor jack with a trans adaptor. Will use the lift to get most of it off then lower it, drop the trans, then lift it back up to swap the clutch.



I have never dropped a trans so some help would be appreciated.

Have an alignment tool to help get the clutch disc in the right spot, while bolting up the pressure plate? Or a twisted off input shaft laying around? It really helps when sliding the transmission back in.



Also, can you get your hands on maybe a Hi-lift jack or a Porta-power tool? They used one (Porta-power) on my truck, at Goerends for spreading the frame a bit, to pull the crossmember that the transmission is bolted to.



Wouldn't be surprised if the flywheel needs to be turned again.



How soon do you want to do it? I'm limited to weekends only, right now. Started rolling 18 wheels again.

When do you want to do it?? The porta power makes the re-install of the crossmember so much easier. If its the weekend after memorial day, I would likely be able to toss in a hand. Let me know if you need your clutched picked up @ SB, I roll by a couple times a week. Karl

I do have access to a porta-power and an alignment tool. Just not a full height trans jack---very $$$$$. Karl, I might take you up on the offer to stop by SBC.

Hey dennis, let me know when you wanna do it, and i may be able to snag a full height trans jack from a buddy of mine for a couple of days, ive done quite a few trans swaps, so i could be of some help. Just let me know when/if you wanna do it, and we'll see if we can work it out.
