anybodys 2006 sound like this?

when i start my truck up for the first time each day it sounds like somthings hissing from around the radiator area. first i thought the ac od defrost was on but it wasnt. i will make this noise till it warms up. is this normal?..... james

Yeah mine does this, sounds like fluid or something going through the A/C system, I do know what you mean though. I also sell new CTD's and have not heard the noise, or perhaps been that observant but I will next time I'm at work and report back. P. S. I don't think it means something is broken, as my truck has done this for about 20K miles I've got 31K and the truck runs and drives great.

I do not know whether or not you had a link for a sound clip posted. However, I had a hissing/screaching/nails on chalkboard sound from front of truck. When engine is cold, it was mostly noticable below about 40-45F. Once the engine was about halfway to operating temp, it goes away. I took my truck in a few weeks ago to check some stuff out and and one of them was that sound. Since it is only about two miles from my house to the dealership, it was not up to operating temp and the diesel tech was able to hear it. He happened to grab the radiator fan and stopped it. Noise stopped too. Before I took it in, I wrote everything down, and I thought there was a TSB floating around here for a noisy fan clutch. They ended up replacing the fan clutch and the sound/noise has gone away. If you have some welding gloves or leather gloves, try stopping the fan when it is making the noise. Make sure the engine is cold so that the fan clutch is slipping and it wont take your hand off. BTW, I took my rig in with about 13,500 miles on it. I made that noise since I picked it up new in Feb. '05. I just lived with it for that long.
