Anyone building a stand alone Trans control module to put an Aisian behind a 5.9

Anybody hear of a company building a PCM or separate control for the AISIN 6 speed that will interface with a 5.9? I like my G-56 6 speed but I sure wouldn't mind an automatic with two overdrives and getting older with hurting knees, I wouldn't mind an automatic 6 speed. Yes, it would cost a bundle to convert but cheaper than a new truck and my stick trans and parts would help offset the costs.

The Aisin already has it's own controller, that communicates with the RAM PCM. Not sure if that makes in easier or harder. SnoKing

No one has yet come forward with a stand alone controller for the AS transmissions. Several iterations and parts for a 69RFE or Ally, either one is good choice if you are looking for the extra gears and a usable combination on less that "all the power I can make and shift it as fast as possible". The updates, tuning, and builds on the Ally 1000 and 68RFE have made a huge difference in the efficacy of the units.

When I worked at UPS, they had some Freightliner chassis package cars with the '98.5-2002 24v Cummins 5.9 with the Allison that GM used in the pickups. Nice combo. I don't want it for fast shifting, just don't like the 48RE gear ratios between direct (3rd) and OD for towing

I get tired of shifting too,but after spending a bundle on my '98.5's DTT 47re,I just couldn't do it again.
My friend services many, many Duramax's with Allisons and has never had an issue with the transmission. Stock horsepower.

The 68RFE sure seems to be an under rated unit. Coming from a professionally built 47, the stock 68 is hands down better in every way.
I would not shy away from one if considering a swap.

Even a 68rfe would be fine with me if it can handle 395hp. I think there would be a good interest to a lot of 5.9 guys if this could be done.

Somebody was making a standalone controller for the 68RFE and I've kept it in mind for when my 48RE fails. I'll do some digging to see if it still exists.

On edit: it is the Transmission Tuner that PLOF linked in post #5

Neither the Ally 1000 or the 69RFE are going to last long stock behind an un-managed 400 HP engine. Both transmissions are under clutched and over managed to make them live stock, without the management they are on borrowed time. By the time one gets done it is usually in the $10-12k range to do the swap and get it all close, and it will likely kill the resale of good 3rd gen truck.

Better off taking that chunk of $$ along with what you can sell the truck for and just updating to a newer model. Depending on what you want you can come close to paying for a newer truck with those $$.

The F650's with the ISB and Ally 1000 were rated at 220 HP stock, lose a lot over the typical consumer truck.

Brings up a good question for the controller builder: Does the stand alone controller send a defuel for shift signal to the ECM?
