My fuel return line burst and blew diesel oil on everything under the truck and soaked the firewall insulation.

My truck smells like I am sitting inside of a diesel fuel tank.

I am assuming that I first have to replace the soaked firewall insulation and then presede to clean everything under the truck with a pressure washer.

I am wondering if anyone has ever replaced the firewall insulation and how they went about doing it. Is the insulation glued on?

Thanks,

Tim

I lost my insulation to a squirrel on both of my trucks as well. Not only did he remove about 2/3’s of the insulation, he conveniently stuffed it into my air cleaner box. The little bugger must be a west cost relative of yours. :D

I changed the insulation on my 96 to a 2001 tin foil coated insulation package. I also put on torch on insulation under it for added soundproofing. The factory insulation is fastened with plastic clips. Since my total thickness( torch on roofing+firewall insulation) was too thick, I used self tapping screws to re install the new stuff. I also wanted more than the few clips that Chrysler used. If you wanted to know the trick of how to get it on

with the engine in. Sorry, I can't tell you how to perform that miracle. I cheated and pulled the engine to fix my leaky head gasket and did it then.

Garry.
