Here I am

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Anyone dyno an HO 6-speed with ONLY a Comp added?

Curious to find what rear wheel power and torque numbers REALLY are, compared to what Edge claims over on their website for the Comp on an otherwise stock 24 valve Dodge...

I assume that is YOUR truck, listed in your sig?

If so, it appears that it took a 4" exhaust and larger injectors to obtain what Edge claims at the rear wheels from a STOCK non-HO Dodge...

Thanks for the info - maybe a few more out there?

An ETC probably would have made close to that without the injectors and been closer to 400hp with them.

ETHs don't respond as well to BOMBing.

gimme a yell --see sig-- and I can give you a little more info.

Can't really say I'm in the least unhappy with my Comp - the power increase is impressive - just curious as to real-world dyno numbers, as compared to dealer hype... Looks like the next-best upgrade would be injectors - but really, I already have MORE than enough power for MY wants and needs...

Its common knowledge the ETH motors don't respond "as well" to the boxes as the ETC motors. An ETC with the COMP should be around 320hp. Put the same box and injectors on both an ETH and an ETC... ... ... ETC motor will make more power. ETH's respond very well to injector upgrades tho.

DDIII's + Comp would be close to 440hp on ETC easy. I had 442 and 447 with an HX35. Upto 512hp with lowly "stage IV" injectors and lil bit bigger turbo (not B1).

I dynoed mine in May and got

260. 5 hp 612. 6 trq on 3x5

280. 2 hp 647. 0 trq on 5x5

This is with a PE comp box only with the pump wire hooked up.

:) I really got to think about this. Hmmmm can a Cummins have too much power:confused: Would that be in line with Can a girl be too good lookin:confused:

:D Ah! well there you have it. The answer in a nutshell. NOPE:D

Different strokes for different folks!:D

I'm as interested in durability of the WHOLE truck at the best power level WITHIN that limitation, along with economy of operation - all while getting enough performance to tow my 7000 lb fiver at and above the speed limit on any mountain grade - it wouldn't do that to my satisfaction stock - but easily does it now with the Comp... If I had a heavier trailer, THEN a set of injectors might be in the works - but that would next require a heavier clutch, then concerns about transmission and differential reliability, etc... ;)

Radical performance is great - but comes at a price not always expected or welcome - reduced reliability, fuel economy and premature drivetrain wear/failure being the most common...

Yeah, guess I'm sorta at my own personal "comfort level"... :p ;) :D

But I really appreciate the info - now I know about what I've got, and where to go next for more if I get greedy and foolish!:D

Gary,

I'm glad you're happy but I would not worry about the differential and transmission. Even with a comp, or without one for that matter, your clutch's days are numbered if it's still a stock clutch.

The ETH flywheel usually comes from the factory witha slight taper. It drastically reduces clutch holding power and life.

I hope yours lasts a long time.

:D You have just hit the nail directly on the head:D It is your comfort level. That is the point of the whole discussion. Different people have different comfort levels. An excellent point has just been made and recognized. Familiarity with the DARK SIDE means you are doomed to repeat the sins (Bombing) of the many. :D

All joking aside, the comfort level of the individual is the whole key. We set up our rigs the way we want them, not the way somebody else want's them. Enjoy what every you do . :D

Mark - talk to us about the HP 360! It makes a lot of HP, but what about Torque? How does it feel compared to the ISB?????
