Happy Independence Day America

It looks to be an interesting tour this year with Lance retired and 9 other riders out because of the blood doping scandal. I am always amazed at the skill and speed these guys have. Awsome.

I pay attention a little. The news this morning says an American has the Yellow Jersey, but I can't remember his name. Yeah, going down the Alps on tires that are 1/2" wide sounds a little scary!

To clear up Klengers post a bit so as to not confuse, Lance is not out because of the doping. He is out due to being retired. There were accusations about him doping or having ties to a doctor who supplies drugs. The 9 other guys, including Ullrich, have been named on a document from Spain.

Anyway, I heard Hincapie has the lead so far!

Thanks for the clarification on Lance. The way I had it worded certainly could lead one to the wrong conclusion about Lance. I reworded it to clarify that he retired.

Did you see on Day 2 right before the finish line the guy with the 1st yellow jersey got his arm cut? I can't picture what someone on the side of the road could have been holding that would cut him like that by accident. It was so bad he dumped the bike after the finish and they were applying direct pressure! I sure hope it was an accident and not someone messing with the rider on purpose.

I've become a big fan in recent years and with the OLN coverage, I'm finding myself watch a good bit of it. This year is going to be interesting-- Very odd to have Basso, Ulrich, Vinokourov missing from the pack. (as well as Lance)

I'd really like to see Hincappe win.

I heard it was a big cardboard hand thingy. At 40+ MPH, running into a piece of cardboard at the wrong angle could be very serious. I read that the cut was 5cm and took 3 stiches.
