Anyone ever converted a E350 van?

We've been looking at Sportmobile 4x4 E350 vans.

Since the 6. 0 PS have such a lousy rep, I've thought about buying a gas rig and converting it to a 5. 9 CTD. My thought is the 5. 9 might be too long to fit. Any thoughts or advice on this?

I failed to mention we're looking used Sportmobiles.

Every year Sportsmobile has a few of their offerings in the local car show here. The rep last year was lamenting how bummed he was that he sold his older 7. 3 Sportsmobile in favor of a newer 6. 0 one. He's had it in the shop numerous times and the guy who bought the old one is stoked with it. One thing about those setups though is the lack of bug screening and a somewhat cramped floorplan. Mechanically though they have a super sturdy drivetrain and excellent bumpers,skid plates etc. They are super heavy and I see them driving around with D rated BFG KO's all the time. That would be the first thing I replaced.

I wonder how those eco-friendly tires and solar panels wil get you out of a rut? No worry, as equipped, those trucks won't get you far off the beaten path, you should be able to walk 200' to the road to wave down help. Don't forget your tow strap, you'll need it.
