I ride

road and mountain. I race NORBA beginner when the weather is a bit cooler.

I like to see the Tour when I'm somewhere that receives it, but I don't "follow" pro racing.

Lance is the man. Read his book. Drink some Shiner Bock.

Ever in this area I'll show you the trails. I raced Tsali, Sewanee, and LBL this year. Lock 4 was too hot. Ocoee was too wet. And I had the flu for Chickasaw. I'm a good solid mid-packer--years of experience but never enough conditioning.

Next year I plan to race all those events. I do metrics and centuries in between MTB events.

Bicycle racing is finally getting a little recognition. It's always amazed me that a sport that almost everyone in this country has been involved with at some time in their life has such a small following. Maybe Lance needs to put out some $300 shoes then the kids could steal them from each other.

My wife and I are big fans. Lance is amazing. I would put his conditioning up against any athlete, he would win hands down. OK maybe he would throw his hands in the air.

We ride a Litespeed tandem about 8 to 10 K a year. Do a couple of time trials and several long distance events a year. Won the mixed tandem Cochise County Classic in 02. A little 252 mile race.

The prolouge is a time trial, so it's the rider against the clock. Can't get any help from the team-mates in a time trail. I guess that that means that Lance must be pretty strong again this year.

He wrote a book. I think the name is "It's not about the bike" or something like that.

Lance should have no problem this year barring an accident or illness. After todays stage he is right where he should be 3 seconds back with Laurent Jalabert ahead, with everything to lose. Jalabert's team will have to do a little work the next few stages.

If anyone want's to here a live feed of the racing try www.letour.fr/2002/us .
