To anyone who has mounted their fuel pressure sending unit on the fuel filter test ports ('98. 5 & '99's):

Have you experienced vibration-related failure of the sending unit like those who have mounted the sending unit directly on the VP44?

I am just trying to figure out whether to bother with remotely mounting the sender or doing it the lazy way and mounting directly to the test port.

I spoke with Andy @ Geno's and he has not heard of any vibration related failures from the test port mounting, although he did say that they just started selling the fuel pressure guages & not enough time may have passed for failures to be reported.

(1 yr warranty on Westach sending unit)

I know about the failures occurring when mounting the sending units to the Schroeder valve. I have yet to hear of a sending unit failure mounted on the fuel filter test port.

Speak up, inquiring minds want to know!:D(besides Tom W. in Texas-He has 25k on his sending unit at the test port!)

I just finished installing Geno's FP gauge this weekend and mounted it remotely on the firewall for this very reason. Why take a chance... . just mount it remote.

Godd luck:D

My first two SW sender units lasted no more than a few weeks each when mounted on the test port. I mounted the third one on the fire wall and used a grease hose. This one has lasted 6 months.

1 year and 15,000 miles with no problems, two sending units, one before filter one after filter. these are electric sending units.
