Values and Priorities
The govt is cracking down ...
Going first class (or at least not last-class) costs something.
Dropping your pants and using the streets for a toilet is the cheapest route. (see countries X, Y, or Z).
One step up and you have an outhouse, flies, smell, and all.
An occasionally smelly septic system with the need for a pumpout costs a few more dollars yet.
A sanitary sewer system and treatment plant is beginning to make a noticeable dent in the budget.
I'll take the sewer/treatment system, and be pleased to have the opportunity to pay for it.
We are driving trucks that someone has figured out how to operate, and which give us more power than most of us really need, without making a street-toilet of our atmosphere.
Seeing "someone" as the enemy is to be something less than responsible, re. our own obligation to stewardship of this planet.
The extra fuel/equipment dollars represent our cleaning bill, and paying it is just a part of not going last-class.
Bugs in these new systems? Of course.
Which of us bought this new rig without knowing that he/she was accepting the "early-adopter" risk?
The only way to get a proven, debugged (and improved) product is to wait out the proving-and-de-bugging period.
Impatience costs, too.
But aint these things fun to drive while the bugs are asleep?
(plenty of room in the bed for the soapbox, too!)
