Below is a picture of how I mounted my CB, scanner, and siren in my truck. Does anyone have any ideas on how to give this mounting a more finished look? Kes' switch posting got me thinking about the finish of this mounting. And I thought that it could be better. Any ideas would be appreciated. Different mounting locations, different arrangements, anything. Thanks.

You've definately got alot of hardware there dude. My only suggestion with that many items, is to check out some kind of company that supplies the ambulance type center control console. You might want to check a custom interior shop to see if they can come up with some way to remove the center seating section, put a console in and still keep your stock storage console that folds down on top of your custom arrangement. <font color=blue>

Two places you could try would be Tuxall @ 1800-825-3339 or Gall's @ 1800-477-7766. Both places have assorted mouting options.

I was going to do that to mine. Took all the screws out I could find but never could get out the inside section that folds when you close the cup holder closed. Finally gave up. I thought if I could get the insides out I would buy a new outside section and carefully make cutouts for each radio, brace them on the lid and just close it. Then if I traded the truck I would have all the parts to but it back as was. I figured a cup holder from geno's or just one on the cloor would work okay. I sure wish Dodge had of left the old style pull out cup holders in there.

What about using one of the overhead shelves
that bolt up to the sun visor mounts? This
way the stuff would be out of the way and you
could keep your cup holders.

Hey Amianthus:
How about a picture of the outside of the truck?

Thanks for the good ideas. I may try something custom from the aluminum shop that I work at. I am leaning more toward the overhead shelf, but I haven't been able to find one that will accomodate the overhead console. Any more ideas anyone? Thanks for the replies.

p. s. Dave, I will try to get a picture of the truck on here soon.

Amianthus,

Have you checked out Michael Brolin's ad in the classified? I made a similar mount with a piece of aluminum I had around. I put a ninety degree bend in mine, with the verticle side six inches high. It is mounted to all four points under the seat and is very strong. You could easily put two of your radio sets piggy back in this position.

Amianthus-I have a similar problem and Dogman- according to both JCWhitney and the manufacturer (I forget who now), if you have the overhead console (I do)- the shelf is too low for a tall driver (which I am!) and is not recommended. I have fabricated one that is just an overhead switch box for all the various switches/circuit breakers for my goodies-I put the CB in with one of Mike B's mounts-that works good-the scanner goes in the bin where your stuff is and the GPS goes on velcro over the floor cup holder.

I looked at Mike B's mount and I won't be able to use it because I keep my flashlight for my fire helmet down there. It's holder/charger is down there and I need to be able to get to it in a hurry. I like to overhead idea though. Anyone know of an overhead liner that will work with the overhead console? I am 5'5" so the height issue is not really a problem. Although, how much space would one lose? Thanks for the help.
