As with a lot of the 3rd gens, there has been some flaking of the black paint on my intercooler. I've seen high temperature paint at the Home Despot, but am not sure I would trust it. Has anyone here with the same problem found a paint that worked well, and if so how did you prep the surface and apply it?

Getting paint stick on aluminum usually requires a special primer that etches into the aluminum to stick and then hold the finish paint. You might search aircraft painting supplies. Hardest to clean and paint will be the cooling fins.

Thanks for the info. That's what I figured. I saw some high temp paint that was supposed to be good to 2000*, but had my doubts. For me it's just the outside left and right that have flaked, but I probably wouldn't have painting the cooling fins anyway. I'd be too worried about lowering their efficiency. So I guess I'll live with the flaking.
