I am looking at installing the Mopar running boards (Mopar # 82206949) on my '03 3500 QC along with the accent kit, do any of you have these on your truck? If so did they install OK, and how do you like 'em, I had aluminum nerf bars on the '95 and liked those , just thought these would protect the rocker panels better... .

Any Input is much appreciated,

Paul

I SUPPORT THE TROOPS, God Bless 'em!!!!!

I installed the mopar running boards on my 3500 quad cab without the accent kit. Install was easy with a pretty good set of instructions. Took me about three hours. I would recommend using a right angle drill If you can get your hands on one. A 3/8 drill with a (3/8 shank 1/2 inch bit) is needed. Otherwise, it takes a little longer to get the holes drilled in the lower part of the body. Let me know if you have any futher questions. Be glad to help.

running boards

Thanks, Lynn!

I'm gonna put 'em on today, tomorrow will be the first time towing the battleship with the new truck, I can't wait to see how it pulls in comparison to my old '95.

Did you get the Laramie because of your location? They probably don't allow any of us SLT guys into town, eh?

Install

First of all, you can visit this town anytime you like with an SLT. This is DODGE country out here. All Dodge owners are welcome. We got the Laramie because it had everthing on it that we wanted on our "retirement truck". It cost a lot of bucks but we can't say down the road, darn, I wished we would have ordered that option. I hope you be as pleased as we are on the pulling power of your new 03. I pulled a heavy trailer home the other day in a 30 mph head wind gaining elevation between Cheyenne and Laraime on I-80 and our ho 48re didn't even know it was behind us. Overhead showed 13. 6 mpg. That thing is awsome.

Hope the install went okay on the running boards.

Gentleman, sorry about the above post. It was supposed to be a reply instead of submit new topic to boathead on mopar running board install. This is what happens when you get a case of "crainious rectous inversion".

Again, sorry.

We got ours the way we did for the same reasons and for the heated seats (Wonderful on an aching back!. :D).

FWIW, We may be in your neck of the woods later this year - SWMBO is from Guernsey and hasn't been back there in a long time.

running boards installed

Got 'em on!!!!

I just hate drilling all those holes in a brand new rig, but the boards fit like a glove, and look great. I did have to get a big ol' Milwaukee right angle drill at the rental place, and it just fit between the frame rail and the sheet metal (just over 10" in case anyone else is attempting this). Aside from the fact that I had to hunt all over town for a right angle drill, it went quite smoothly, just have plenty of rust preventative handy!!! I still have to say for some reason the Mopar stuff seems to install and fit better than a lot of the aftermarket accessories.

I'll post pictures soon, in case anyone else wants to see what they look like before instaliing 'em.

I found that the best drill to use for the running board installation and other truck accessory installs is a Milwaukee Close Quarters drill. It is a lot lighter than the right angle drill and still has the power to drill through the steel.
