I would also like to hear about this system. According to the web site, it uses the OEM hangers, which most don't. I know I wouldn't care to drill holes and mount uni-hangers.

Actually I think most do use OEM hangers. The couple systems I have installed, or helped install, have used OEM hangers.

I just looked at Rip Rook's web site and it states "(No bolt in hanger kit available for this system)".

That was for the 5" system. It appears that both of his 4" systems do have a bolt on hanger kit.

I know the Pinnacle (aka Jerry Jardine) exhaust has a bolt on hanger kit. The MBRP exhaust systems also use OEM hangers and the exhuast sold by Summit and Jegs use OEM hangers as well.

Summit and Jegs sell first gen exhausts? All I saw was the flowmaster, which is 3. 5" and is not turbo back.

Copy and pasted right off the Rip's Rook's site.

1989-93 Intercooled 250/350 series 5. 9 CUMMINS

OE fit mandrel bent, 16 gauge all aluminized total system Turbo pipe is 3" with heavy duty machine flare. Intercooled models are heat shielded, 4" from extension back. Allied Hi-Flo heavy duty truck muffler included. Louvered, chambered straight through design. (No bolt in hanger kit available for this system).

My fault, I was not reading the years properly. I apologize for the misinformation.

wonder if the "STAN's" kit is 4 inch from the turbo back?

I called Stan's Headers and they said all factory hangers, 4" from Turbo back. You can tell from the pic on their website it flares out to 4" right from the 2 bolt flange. I'm probably just going to order one anyway, since it's priced right in line w/ the systems that have a 3" DP. I was just curious about fitment and quality.

Ummmm-my first gen does not have a 2 bolt flange to hook the exhaust to the turbo. It has a v-style band clamp. That sounds like a picture of a second gen exhaust system.

Try this link, I got both my 4" exhausts from here:

It didn't come with hangers, but I did use the factory locations with the new hangers that I bought.

This is the same system that I'm runing on my Crew Cab (3" down pipe). I didn't like the fit of the first extension pipe around the trans/tcase and my factory hanger didn't line up but thats probably because its a crew. Some pics of the install in my build up thread. HERE

Just wondering if you ordered the system or not. I'm still looking and hunting. I asked Stan if he had it in stainless, but he doesn't. Also he didn't answer my question of the 4" down pipe if any truck mods had to be made.

I haven't looked, but does anyone know off hand if there is a 3. 5" system available. I don't know that I want a 4" pipe, It'll probably rattle on the t-case and that would bother me alot.

This seems to be the only turbo back 4" exhaust I can find. Anyone using it? Like it? Thanks

I had Stans install mine a couple of years ago. I happened to be driving by his shop and stopped in to price out a 4" system and got lucky on timing. Had it installed right there for a pretty good price. No complaints. Rip will treat you right also ;)

So Stan's is a full 4" from turbo back? Any mods needed for the 4" down pipe?

Hey gang,

I stopped by Stan’s today to ask a few questions because I have a D350 Dually that I am trying to decide what to use for an exhaust system. He is very knowledgeable, lots of facts and numbers to back up what he was telling me. I will pass on my info to you.

Stan’s 4" exhaust system starts from the turbo and goes all the way back. It has a machined part that attaches to the turbo and than a 4" piece of exhaust tubing is welded to it, and it is a real nice piece. The down pipe did not require any modifications and he uses the Donaldson mufflers. The most popular one is the 40” M085171, says that it flows real well, and it is not real loud. Had a Furd Power joke in the parking lot with one installed on it, and it didn’t sound to bad.

I have been told by a few (nameless companies) that there was no improvement between the 3” and the 4” systems. Stan showed me the flow numbers between the 3” systems and the 4” systems, big difference. I wouldn’t even consider a 3” system and he mentioned the 5” inch was a waste of money unless your pushing (lots) of horsepower.

As far as the 4x4 model, they make a special piece that goes around the t-case. Not sure what dia. size they use, I didn’t ask because mine is 2x4, and they also use the factory hangers.

If I left out anything let me know and I will try to answer. I will be installing a 16cm turbine housing in the next few weeks and I will probably install one of Stan’s kits on it at the same time.
