2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake woes

I took my truck into the dealer today for a very annoying squeek in the dash. They told me it was a broken spot weld on the A pillar. I asked them how they fixed it. They said there was a notice from D/C on how to fix this problem. What they did was spread the two pieces of metal and put something in between. It fixed the squeek but it seemed like a chincy way to fix the problem. I guess the techs at the dealerships aren't smart/skilled enough to reweld it. I just thought I'd asked if anyone else has had this done. BTW they had to remove the whole dash to get to it.

I have this same noise in my truck, but no one at the dealership can find the problem and they say they have not seen anything from dodge on this problem before.

can anyone help us?

The instrument panel creak is one thing. Usually solved by trimming some plastic and metal somewhere in the area of the instrument cluster.

The cracking is in the cab body and fender supports. This can be identified by looking down into the area where the hood hinges are very near to the bottom of the windshield or right about where the A pillar drops into the cab firewall area. Look for cracking around the spotwelds. They are very easy to identify because there will be rust around the spotwelds.

Found this on my rig and had it repaired under warranty at relatively low mileage.

I had the dash squeek problem for a few months last year, then it just went away on its own. Straight pipes and radio help.

My exhaust cant get much louder. The stereo is going in next week too. My squeek kept getting louder by the day and it could be heard over the exhaust.

I wish I would have seen this TSB while I was under warranty. Oh well, a little more work for me this weekend. I hate this squeek!!!
