Just wondering if anyone has an OE style AFE drop in filter and whether or not it increased the turbo whistle a bit. Trying to not go to a full intake kit as I will need warranty to be rock-solid regardless of where I travel to.

No 'mo whistle.

I'm running one in my '07 5. 9. Zero whistle increase which is what I wanted.

I'm hoping for maybe a little more turbo whistle, but since this new 6. 7 is so quiet a little will go a long ways.

Bob, that's what I was thinking, maybe I'll see if he can get me one of those newer pro-dry filters for it.

I run the AFE Pro Guard7 and It completely stopped the filter minder pull down when accell. with my Smarty! (no whistle)

:)Hate em! I just sold them. They ride like crap, the steel wheels were waay to heavy, my fuel economy was down 2MPG, hard on brakes, hard to accelerate, and held rocks like crazy until they ley go at 100kmh into my paint.

Looked cool though :)

I wish other people were more honest in bragging about their mods.

That being said, I'm concidering buying some Weld Velociti 19. 5's. This time I'd go with the 225's instead of the 245's 65lbs instead of 78lbs. Forged wheels are 38lbs instead of 70lbs. And I'd go ribbed tires all around instead of drive tires, even though the drive tires looked cool and were awesome in the snow. The ribbed are quieter and dont hold rocks as bad. Total weight should be 103lbs/wheel tire instead of 148lbs. All this for the look:rolleyes:

I wish they made a tall narrow tire for a 17"

Yes, Piers and let's not forget Harry as well, two if the best diesel minded guys in this industry. Still two of the nicest and most helpful ones as well. Glad they teamed up again.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I agree completely that the tire manufactures need to recognize that 17" is here to stay for a while in the LT market and need to step up support for them. I really liked my Toyo M-55s on the last truck with 16" wheels, they were tall and narrow made for a great tire on and off road, but they don't offer much in the M-55 for the 17s. I sent them an email, maybe if enough people send them an email they'll get in gear. I was told to look at the Toyo Open country M/Ts instead, but they really don't look like they will be all that great on the hi-way. Maybe I'll try a set anyways, the M/Ts at least have the LT285/75R17 size which is a deeper tread tire, 34. 1" in diameter, and only 11. 6" wide.

Thanks Matt. I think I'll do just that, save the money like you say and stick with the stock. Thanks again guys for the advice and opinions on this one. This is what makes the TDR so great:cool:
