anyone heard or xed "s-ring" on 03 yet

with the new cummins being do quite i figured xing the silencer-ring on the turbo would allow you to really hear the turbo sing like a big rig. i wanted to know if anyone has removed the silencer ring on an 03' or if you have ridden in the cab to hear one scream. this will be the first mod when i get my new truck. ... ... ... anyone?

Took a spin in one sans ring and it wasnt something I would want to live with on a daily basis. The truck had a custum BHAF and ring removed and it was kinda nifty for a short spin but I know I would come to hate it in a short timespan. Opinions vary of course and it could be music to your ears but I wouldnt toss it till you have have gone some hours without it.

how loud was it? when he was going though the gears did it sound like a big rig... TELL ME MORE!... ... . ok i am calm... ... . it's just i am getting restless... . I NEED MY 03 NOW. Oo. did it seem louder than the gen. 2?

I tried it out on mine, and it really is not much different. It actually makes more noise at low RPM than wound up. What I did notice is the "bark" was reduced when backing out of the throttle.

I think I've lost that range of hearing. Can hardly hear mine now. Maybe it's time for a FORTY!

Stock air filter with the silencer ring removed is just a little louder than what you have from the factory. You can here it nice and I'm sure that with the installation of a high flow air filter you will get the big rig sound you so desire

how many of you guys like to hear the comments from your passengers about the loud whistle this always opens the coversation about how awsome the cummins is. (starts diesel talk w/ non diesel people which i love) have you guys found that the silencer ring removed really gets your passengers attention?

Try giving your new rig a try at being quiet, you might like it . I had a couple of G2's,and although it sure is different, it's nice to be able to speak to a passenger without shouting and to hear the cd . Just a suggestion, you are going to love the new rig either way .

i am not cutting the mufflers or anything. but i hope that the whistle from xing the ring would not be to loud. i want my truck to be quite other than a nice turbo whistle. i like the idea of having a quiter truck(not quite but quiter). dean thanks for the opinion i will keep you updated about how loud it is. i am not going to use a kn air filter in this truck dean what kind of filter would you suggest

I'm just using the stock Mopar filter that came with the truck for now at least.

I had to remove the ring just so I could tell if the turbo was actually working or not . It was pretty quiet with stock air filter and silencer ring in so I lost the ring. I know my '01 got quite a bit louder when I replaced the stock filter with a K&N.
