I am thinking about applying for a Cardlock card as we travel quite frequently with the 5th wheel and for convenience around home. Any opinions compared to Flying J, Loves, Petro etc. Price?, quality of fuel?.
May not be of much interest to you since I am in Canada, however I have used card lock since the truck was new. never had any water or contaminated fuel. since all the big trucks fuel up there they go thru lots of fuel, and they tend to change the filters on the pumps more often. Fuel is cheaper than at retail outlets. Hope this helps.
i get my fuel from pacific pride for about 5 years now. I love it i can get it when i want and how much i want. The price is usually 10 to 30 cents cheaper than at the reg gas stations. I also save . 02 per gallon when i pay my bill once a month.
the esso truck stop i get my fuel from has the easypay rfid scanner on the diesel pumps. . i need to apply for one of those i think. . [but pay at pump with CC is good too]
and this morning i got the cheapest fuel i have had this year @ $0. 839/liter cdn
Thanks for the replies guy's. I really expected more responses with the amount of members. Guess we are the only ones that either use or investigate other possible fuel savings/convenience of this nature. Now to decide between CFN or Pacific Pride.
I have Pacific Pride and CFN for traveling plus a local card lock in and around the area I live in that is a Chevron Distributor. I haven't noticed the prices being any lower than the regular fueling stations but it sure is convienient and less crowded in the card lock stations.
its all in the matter of who you know. I know the owner of the pacific pride where I live. He used to deliver fuel to my dad back in the 80's. I use over 100 gallons a month with 2 vehicles.
The 2400 gallons annually would more than likely be for a commercial account. Make sure you ask for a diesel only (at least in Oregon) non commercial account. I have a 2004. 5 with 18000 miles on it, so you know that I have only used about 1000 gallons spread between two cardlocks and the occasional regular service station in two years.
If you go to the OOIDA website, that's www.ooida.com if you look you'll see an advertisement for the fuel advantage card. It is good a most fuel stops and all CFN & Pacific Prides and some T/S offer a $0. 02 /gal discount.
I have a Pacific Pride card, but have been unimpressed with the savings as priced here in the John Day area - I can buy fuel cheaper at the local Leathers station with their 5 cent discount card. Didn't know about PP's 2400 gallon requirement, haven't used their card in quite a while - better check it out to see if my card still works, in case I need to use it sometime...
I also have a Pacific Pride account. Haven't used it in quite awhile. In times past PP has alsways been higher than most of the other places. Maybe I have the wrong account or something. Just yesterday I did notice a new CFN cardlock and it was a few cents lower than the Maverick or Fred Meyer here.
