Has anyone installed a 2nd gen 12v into there truck. If so what is involved and what was done with the motor mounts? Was anything special needed? How much 1st gen wiring was used. Thanks,

Robert

Did you use all 92 mount parts and screw it to the block, or did you use the 24 block mount peice to have a half 92 and half 24v mounts? Thanks

We put a '96 12V in my sons '90, everything fits fine. The main change was in the throttle connection, but all the sensors, etc. from the '90 were used on the '96. We also used the rad core support, rad, rad shroud, intercooler, CAC tubes, A/C condenser, etc off a '93 to upgrade the install...

Part of the reason why I am questioning is becaust the mounts seem to be in a differant location on the 98 motor, mabee just an optical allution.

You used all of the 90 wiring harnes? Can that be done? How did you get around the grid heater and electric shutoff solinoids? I like this idea. Tell me more Oo. Thanks

BSchwarzli,

Yes the wire harness from the '90 was used. The grid heaters were just moved from the '90 to the '96. The '96 start stop solenoid was hooked up through the wiring of the '90. The only real snag we had was throttle cable and we were able to find the bracket and cable from Freightliner, which worked great on the Dodge. Somewhere in the archives are the numbers for these items that I posted way back when.....

I searched for pics of the 2nd gen engine in the 90. I found a picture of the exhaust side. I was wondering if there are any pics available of the fuel pump side with the freightliner throttle linkage. I am very interested as I would consider using it when installing a 97 in my 89. How about it Gray Wolf? Thanks, John.

John,

My son will be at my place on Saturday so I will take some photo's for you :) I had some shots of it when we finished the project but I lost them (Computer crash) before I got them in my Photobucket account :{

Thanks, Grey Wolf I would appreciate that very much. I did a search and have the part #s you listed back in 2004, and believe that is the route I will go. Again, thank you. John
