Horn Mounting

In front of each front wheel well, and behind the bumper, there is a open area on both sides of the truck that should be big enough to install horns up to 20-22" at an angle (bell down). I attached mine with several large tie wraps with a piece of sliced rubber tube to protect the bell where it contacted metal supports... .

Gotta Have the Air Horns

Have debated for 2 years on which air horns to buy. Now that I know where to mount (under the front end) I gonna take the plunge. I had my finger on the button for the J. C. Whitneys when I looked at Northern Tools. They havea set for $199. Anybody know anything about them?

Thanks

You don't have to do anything with the bumper. If you lay on you back just in front and to the engine side of either front wheel, you'll see the area I was talking about. It's just behind the headlights.

I've got about three sets of different air horns that I've tried on my truck. If you just looking for a lot of DB's (noise) here is a site that has a pretty good selection of horns:

The trouble with these types of horns is that although they are loud, they are a higher pitch then a big rig horn.

I finally found a set of 22" Hadley's with 6" front bells. They have a deep / low sound that is pretty close to the big rigs. They definitely will get you attention. The only problem with these larger horns is that your going to need an air tank and a good size of air hose to feed to the horns. I used 3/8" air hose all the way from my tank/air pump (mounted under the truck bed on the frame rail) thru the pressure switch and 12V solenoid to the horns.

Hope this helps... ;)
