This is the General Topics and Hey there is alot of old farts on this site... . so maybe someone might be interested in watching it all come together ??

The ideal is to take a 1946-48 Ford Flathead and not only stick two (2) Turbo-Chargers on it, but to convert it to Electronic Fuel Injection as well. This exercise will follow along as they transform the Flat-Head into a Twin-Turbo-Charged, Fuel-Injected, Air-to-Air and Air-to-Water Inter-Cooled, Modern muscle machine. The build will include the fabrication of all components, on-site, and by the guy's at ProWeld Performance Parts. They will custom fabricate the Intake Manifold, Fuel Injector Bungs, Runners, Headers, Intake system, Inter-cooler tubing and every thing else it takes to make this old Flat-Head work. No it's not a diesel, but it sure will be fun !!

www.proweldperformanceparts.com then just follow the Project:Flat-Head links.

That's an extreme case of "just because". It's a cool concept, but holy cow.

I didn't follow the link, but how are they going to overcome the flatty's propensity to cavitate and overheat? I helped assemble a stock flatty with a friend of mine who had a nice little machine shop/rebuilding operation, and those blocks were a pretty tremendous chunk of iron with bitty little bores. The fellow he did it for put it in a woody restoration. That old timer was as proud as a peacock driving that car:cool:

I just scanned it over quick but how are they going to beef up the bottom end to handle turbocharging? I thought flathead V8s only had 3 main bearings.

I don't think the bottom end will hold up if the engine is run hard. I've seen quite a few busted cranks in those things.
