Road Hazards

test

I was just involved in a hail storm and my insurance comp. says that that is the only way they are going to pay for repair. I don't want it done that way, but... . I was wondering if there was any way out of it. If not, How good is it, and should I be afraid of it. Thank you all ,

I had 6 dings taken out of my Impala by the "Dent Wizard" and i have to say i was very impressed. Absolutley no trace of the dings. WELL worth the $200. 00 he charged for all 6.

To be honest, if it were my vehicle, the only way I would have it repaired is with PDR. That is unless the paint is broken. Couple of tips, however. Make sure you watch the repairperson, don't let them drill any holes anywhere. And, make sure they either cover the tips of their tools, or reapply corrosion protection to the back side of the dent. Just so you know, I teach auto physical damage repair.

PDR technician

I owned a PDR company for 8 1/2 years, and still take care of some customers even though I now have an office job. Not sure why you'd want filler and paint... PDR is THE way to go! Faster, cheaper... . and you get to keep your original paint!! Chances are, the boys will have to drill a few small holes... personally, I dont see a problem. I have always used a double-seamed plug that keeps moisture out. If nothing else, when you get your truck back, pull the plugs, paint the hole edges with touchup paint, let dry and put the plugs back in. Any questions, just ask!

I just had a couple dents removed with a PDR company, and their work was well worth what they charged. I also used to work at a body shop, and found the PDR method to be much less intrusive than the typical spoon, hammer, plastic filler, sanding, paint, color sand, and polish that is the norm. However, this looks to be more of an art form, and I would be sure to find someone who has been in business for a long time.

Grease Monkey is Right!!!

Please dont go blindly into a Dent Wizard-type place... the repair is done by hand, so you are at the mercy of the skill of the tech... why is one surgeon or engine builder better than another? I worked as an independant... . a one-man show... . for all of those 8 1/2 years, so I knew the work would be done correctly; afterall, it was my name on the sign! Dont be scared of the technique... it works wonders!!

Faster than a body shop

When we were living in Mo. we went the World of Outlaw sprint car races. On the way back we were caght in a hale storm, golf ball size. They were hitting the road and bouncing at least 10' high. All I was hoping the windshield did not break. Once we made it home I was expecting that there was not a straight piece of metal, to my surprise I only had about a dozen or so dents. The next morning they showed a tornado went through the same area, right after us. I was real impressed with the litter amount of damage. That is when I took it to a pdr shop. There was a red Cadillac that came through the same spot as we did, not a straight spot on it. I would not hessitate to go to one of these shops again. The holes they drill are the only way to get in a area and work the dent out. I could not tell where they were. Even when I wax, there is no rippled feel or imperfection. Try and see a vehicle they are in the process of straightening. I would rather this than new paint. Sam

the problem I have with them is that, I wouldn't mind a new paint job on the hood because it is starting to peel a little. The pdr place's quote was only about 400 dollars cheaper than the auto body place, after a total repaint on the entire truck. But that is all the insurance comp. will do so that is where I will go. You guys have eased my mind a little, Thanks. .

A blond was told that she could fix the hail dents by blowing on the tailpipe.

She's back at her apartment blowing on the tail pipe as instructed when her blond neighbor comes out and asks her what she's doing.

When she explained, her neighbor says duh --- you have to close the windows first:p

PDR

I had this done to my care in 96 and it took all the dents out and looks much better. However they cant get out dents on seams and joints and when its all done if you look at the vehicle in a certain way you can see "waves" where the were worked out. For a $400 differance get it panted.
