Selling my Early Bronco-Advice?

a friend asked me about changing the rear gear ratio in his brand new 06 sprinter3500. he says he has a 3. 72 ratio. he wants less rpm's on the highway. is there parts available to change out the ratio? and if he does will it have the power to drive ok. he hauls mail about 350 miles a day. thanks in advance.

Why bother, he is not checking the mileage yet or something... We have 2 of them both high roofs 1 is the longest one and 1 medium sized and with 3. 72 gears and we consistently get 23 to 28 mpg and none of us drive 55-65 everyone is in the 70and up and these 5 cyl diesels can rev they are not low rpm like our Cummins.

By the way they have a 85mph governer, leave it stock

P. S. Sprinters are AWSOME vehicles if you have the need for a van they are #1

he is checking mileage. he says he gets 22mpg at 64. and gets 19 at 74. he wants to go 70's and get 20 plus. I would be happy with 19. thanks for the replies.

I would also do the tire change, it would be much cheaper as well! If you stepped up one size in tire, they would still look stock, but you would easily drop your RPMs on the Highway. I would guess one tire size bigger would be close to a 3. 90 ratio vrs the 3. 73 he has now. BUT, you will lose some of the up and go, and might hurt his milage alot if he does alot of stop and go. Unless he does 80% of his driving on freeways, I wouldnt bother.
