Anyone know how to get a VIN check on DC vehicles?

I'm thinking about getting the wife a used Grand Cherokee, but wanted to get the VIN checked first. Anyone have any contacts in a service dept. somewhere out there? The VIN# is 1J4GR48K66C236865
