Well, since I wanted to get an exhaust brake for the new rig, plus have an EGT gauge - I can kill two birds with one stone, since the exhaust brake comes tapped for a pyro probe.

I know if I go to Dodge I'm going to get bent over for it.

Anyone know what Cummins charges? Install cost?

Thanks,

Shawn

Shawn when I put mine in Cummins quoted me $1350 (thats canadian play money for you US guys) and dodge wanted $1425. Install was going to be 4. 5 hours, don't know the labour rate as I was planning the install myself.

Shawn The Mopar part number for the 2006 exhaust brake (automatic and manual) is 82209823 and the Cummins part number is 4955192. Call you local Cummins Dist and see what they charge 403-569-1122. Shadrach

I bought my Jake Brake for my '06 a year ago for less than $1200 from Dave Smith Dodge in Kellogg, Idaho. It might be worth a phone call to them to see. Installation can be done by any qualified mechanic, as long as is done to mfg. specs. JH

I've seen the brakes for 05-06 trucks on E-Bay go for $650 but that person has recently raised their price to $750 but it's still a good buy and they are an easy install.

Choked

I was quoted $1450 for mine@ Dave Smith,$100 more for auto. I choked and didn't get it. :{ That's installed and guaranteed for 3/36. I had a Pacbrake on my '99 but the buyer's enjoying that one now.

Call Phil Kreutzer at Swift Dodge in Sacramento. He was selling Mopar 82209823 for cost +$50. 00 or $1040. 00. That is a screaming deal for the factory brake. He will ship anywhere. Not sure if he still has them in stock, but when my neighbor got his a few months ago he had 13 on the shelf.

Got a Cummins Jacobs brake installed at the dealer for $1399 on my 2006 Mega cab. Figure it was a good deal, they said it takes about 4-6 hours to install... . Price I was quoted by another one of the dealers out here in Alaska was $1299 for just the Jake brake w/o install...

My post was in reference to purchasing the unit only. Less than 1200. 00. I think it was actually around 1100. 00. Anyway it was unit only. Had it installed locally by my own mechanic. JH
