ok. i originally wanted to buy a early 04 model [to not get the egr system] but now it would be in my best interests to get a 03 model year truck [that truck i won showed up yesterday; in only 5-6 weeks:eek: ] if i take delievery of it right now [need to do that to be legal] and then trade in right away, i can get a fair price for it [not that great cause there is $2000 quad cab rebates and 0% financing right now - great for people buying, not great for people selling]

so back to the subject. does anyone here know of what types of changes there will be for the early 04 model year from the late 03 model year? i am not worried about small changes like different radio's and other small changes. what i am worried about is larger changes like different engine HP levels and different clutches [6speed] or different t-case or any other changes to the drivetrain and exterior.

any comments/answers are much welcome. need to know asap cause i need to start dealing asap too.

thanks,

nick

Can't be of much help. I would expect their will be a 5 to 10 HP jump to "keep up with the Jones' " I would also expect some of the other changes you talked about with the interior options.

I talked with a Cummins Engineer last week for some time and he told me that DC would not go to the new pollution controls until the day they had to, IE Jan 1 2004. He said that he could not revel the nature of the controls, but don't be surprised if the EGR is missing. He told of other choices that are available to them. He said all choices have been well tested on our dirty American fuel and they have settled on a very durable solution. He did say that it would add cost to the motor, but did not know if DC would stand the loss or raise the price of the engine.

Yeah, I was wondering if the Variable Turbo will be out in 2004 to bump up the HP to match or exceed the Jones'. It would be great to get that without the EGR. It may end up being one of those rare combo's like the '98 QC 12V trucks were.

I'm in the same boat as you - wondering between an 03 and early 04. Although the 04's might not have as good of deals (ie $2K cash back and 0% financing).

if you order a truck, you can't guarantee that the 2k cash and 0% financing will still be around when you take delivery. i haven't even seen this truck, but my pops went to the dealer and he likes it. [almost to the point that he is gonna take it from me and just pay me what the dealer offered me as a trade. either way i win]

What's this about 0% financing? I thought that that was only on the 1500s? I want one of these bad boys, and if there is really 0%, that will be the straw that breaks the camels back!

deal$

in my neck of the woods, there is $1,500 rebate and no special financing deals.

This sucks. I need a Ram now!!!
