Anyone have a list and meanings of the codes for a 07. 5 dodge cummins with the new 6. 7L in it... .

I got this code here: P061A

Any =one know what it mean? THANKS

where did you find them if you dont mind me asking? Would like a list or something for future reference... .

My P061A code came on last night with the ETC light and then the light went out last night and this morning i check for codes again and the code is gone... . No codes..... Can codes just go away by them selfs?

Doughboy,

Print out the following link. It is a good reference, although for some reason P061A is not listed. www.superchips.com/force_download.php?file=installation_subsection-pdf-69.pdf

I found P061A at the following dodge caliber link.
Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions [Archive] - Dodge Caliber Forums - Forum and Owners Club!

ETC lights can go off by themselves it the problem is no longer detected after a certain number of miles. Mine has not gone out yet. Ever since I got my truck it has idled at about 780 RPM in Park and Neutral, but haven't had the ETC light come on till now. The manual says it is supposed to idle at 700-800 RPMs. I think this my be part of my problem resulting in low turbo bust and torque performance. Just curious, what RPM does your idle at in Park?

mine idles between 700-750... . nice and smooth..... But i do know when the light came it had idled for a quick second like a 12v would then smoothed out... . And the light went out and the code also went away... . So does that mean the problem is not there anymore, or should i waste the time and take it to the dealer and have them say we cant find anything wrong?

If your ETC light went out, your computer is no longer detecting a problem. I think you are right, if you took it in now, they would just make up some excuse so that they wouldn't have to mess with it, if there is no ETC light indicating a current problem. It is a hassle having to take it in anyway. If you can't tell any lose in performance, I would probably say not to waste your time with it unless it happens again. But that is just me. Hope everything works out for ya. I will let you know what they say about mine if the ETC light doesn't go off before I get it to the dealer on Tue.

What does the ETC stand for? I have had my CEL come on and then go off intermittently, but there have been no codes shown. I have the reflash rev. A.

Thanks,

Brad

ETC = Electronic Throttle Control... see the other thread I started about this light. https://www.turbodieselregister.com...41-electronic-throttle-control-light-etc.html

My ETC light came on once today when I started the truck so I shut it off and restarted and it didn't come back on, worked fine the rest of the day. I haven't noticed any difference in how the truck runs since I first seen the light.

I tried cycling the ignition three times to see if any codes displayed on the odemeter and nothing came up. Not sure if that means there are no codes or that just doesn't work on my truck.

It really helps to know all the details... mine does work if you cycle it within the 5 seconds and its in the trip display... details, details. And I also have the P061a code so it's probably related to the ETC warning light?

I have experienced the following codes which come and go.
P0402 - EGR Flow Excessive Detected
P042E - ??????
P0489 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Ctrl Circ Low
P2262 - Turbo Boost Press Not Detected-Mechanical
P245A - EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit - Open
The one code P042E I do not find a definition can anyone assist.
Thanks

Just dropped my truck off again, this time with P2262 (I am assuming - I did not see the code, but the service mgr said "not detecting turbo boost"). Does anyone have any more info on root cause for this? I just got the darn thing back from particulate filter purgatory. Very frustrating.

Check engine light

How are you pulling the codes I got a check engine light last week and as soon as it went on I pulled over and cycled the key and all I got was

------ Done. So does that mean that the fault has cleared and stored this has happened half a dozen times The cel has cleared on its own dealer is still waiting on his scan tool any Ideas thanks:confused:

To obtain the DTC codes you must have the door closed, the transmission in Park, the Odometer/Trip in the Trip position.
Turn the key to on (do not start) and off, 3 times, within 5 seconds, ending in the on position, the display will first display ------ then any current DTC codes followed by "Done" and yes the ECM/PCM does store the codes in its memory, however the odometer only displays the current status, which does change depending on driving style.
Keeping the Engine Brake on helps to ensure the variable vane moves and minimizes the effects of the soot build up.

But you have a real truck, not a 5. 9 TOY. That's what you said on another thread.
