If anyone out there is looking for a 1st gen there's one for sale here in Shreveport. I looked at it today. it's a '92 350 with the Cummins and 5-speed. The truck has a 4wd solid front axle with leaves and manual hubs, but the truck is a 2wd (no t-case, floor shifter, etc). Looks like the trannie seals are leaking as well as the front u-joint bearing in the rear axle. The rig shows 159880 and they want $2500 for it I think. Didn't crank the engine and didn't talk to anyone about it either. It's at a little used lot near my house.

Yes I forgot to mention it was a club cab with captain's chairs. Don't know what's up with the front suspension. There was no t-case lever in the cab so I thought it was a full time unit then looked underneath and there was nothing attached to the front axle and no t-case or cross member to hold it. The hubs reminded me of a Ford hub, and the pumpkin was on the passenger side of the truck if that helps.

Sounds like someone had a W350 and trashed the trans and transfer case and was to stinking cheap to repair it right. Just hillbilly'd it into a 2 wheel drive. :(

That person should be hung with a "New" rope.

I agree with ya'll. When I first spotted the truck I thought it might make a good parts or at the very least project truck. Heck for $2500 I thought it would be a steal. Then I looked underneath. I actually had to sit there for a few minutes scratching my head wondering what in the crap was going on. Did the 1st Gen trucks have manual hubs? The thing that got me most was the floor of the cab. There was no bumps or odd protrusions in the carpet and the carpet looked to be original. that led me to believe that it was always a 2wd and someone swapped a SFA in in hopes of doing a conversion.

At the price it's certainly tempting but after digesting (something like ruminating  ) the addl info I think I'll pass. From the description of the front axle it sounds like someone else's nightmare & there's no telling what other butchery has been done to the vehicle.

Thnx for posting tho.

To find out if it is a orginal $X$ truck. Look at the front spring mounts. From the factory they would be held on with rivits. If it has bolts holding the mounts it is someones wet dream they did not finish.

Eather way around it. It would cost around 2k to get it back as a working $X$ setup.
