Hey guys. John Strenkowski/TDR member CPFF has been making some sweet products for our trucks for a while. Many 2nd genners have his oil bypass mounts and billet adapters, and he also is the inventor of the killer dowel pin etc. Anyway, he has a bolt on mount kit that I've installed on my 04, however, while the mounting location is ideal in that it's a very short and straight hose run, and the filters are protected, the metal tab that it's mounted to is thin, and it's causing an evil humming/resonance in my truck. We've eliminated all possibilities such as hoses/parts touching/rubbing anything, and even applied sound dampner and rubber to the mount to no avail. We believe that it must be more solidly mounted preferably to the block. He has a 2nd gen, and doesn't know/have anyone nearby with a 3rd gen to design the kit around. He will build the mount and install the kit for free, but you will have to supply/buy amsoil kit. .

John has a full machine shop and makes awesome billet parts etc. Once he has designed this more solid mount, it will be available to all TDR members and cummins owners alike... And that will provide a direct bolt on installation of the bypass system - which is what most people want, not to have to do any drilling.

Guys please let me know if you're near Hartford CT and are willing to bring your truck to Johns some weekend. I am dying with this humming noise and have no means to fabricate any mounting setup. Other third genners will have this same problem with the mount, and a true solid bolt on kit would be a great thing to have available to us!

Anyone willing to help out, please pm or email me, or call John Strenkowski (an incredibly nice and helpful guy) at (860) 642-7033. Thanks guys!!

Call Dean Upson in Union, Conn (a few miles from Storrs) and give him a shot. He is Dean on the TDR and has an '03 3500. However, he might be towing in Tennessee right now.

Amsoil mount

I'm currently going to buy one of the mounts mentioned for my 03. Are you recommending I don't until the design is modified or this problem resolved?

The Amsoil BMK-15 kit can be had for around $175. Johns's kit is usually about the same, but as I said before, he would come up with a new mount/kit and install it for free. Just bring the bmk!

Sshelly, it's not guaranteed it will hum on every 3rd gen, but if it were me doing it again, I'd wait for him to come up with a new mount location. The current one, while close as far as oil hoses etc, is mounted on a thin metal tab, which is amplifying the vibrations/resonance from the oil pump. Most that have had this prob have solved it with mounting to the block or a more solid/dead location.
