Cummins is an international company. Their components are built to tight specifications. If they don't perform as expected, they stand behind them.

I thought that Bosch makes the VP44?
The correct word would be "made" (as in past tense). Bosch no longer manufactures the VP44, so old units are only rebuilt.

Cummins has a lot of their parts either manufactured new or rebuilt down in Mexico, presumably to save cost. There's nothing inherently new or wrong with that... they're just trying to stay competitive and in business. Heck, my truck was assembled in Mexico... maybe they all were?

But when it comes to buying a rebuilt VP44, personally I'd rather support a reputable US shop... likely at a significantly lower cost too... than getting one through Cummins. But I have no doubt Cummins offers a quality product and they'd stand behind it if something went wrong.

When it comes to fuel injectors though (not that this thread was about that), you can buy brand new Bosch units from an online retailer cheaper than you can buy rebuilt ones from Cummins. That makes buying the new ones a no brainer to me.

Best regards,

John L.

my truck was made in usa. motor. brazil. rims. brazil, haha. i have a rebuilt vp44 from cummins. year warranty and not one problem. good luck with it!

"Survey says" made in mexico means better built. better fit and finish, with less redo`s at the factory.
