Got called out...

thanks utah, nations most expensive diesel

I will be purchasing a new mower in the next couple of weeks and was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the diesel eXmark or Toro mowers. EXmark has a 3 cylinder Kubota diesel available and Im kicking around the idea of getting the diesel for more power and longjevity (sp). And it would be cool to blow smoke with my mower :-laf . Toro also has a diesel available on there mowers made by Daihatsu. Im still debating between the two... ... Any input would be appreciated.

I know someone who owns one. I don't personally. They purchased it this year and I haven't heard of any issues with it. I know it works really good and fast, which is important when you are doing it for money.

I like Kubota diesels but I am sure the Daihatsu's are fine. Exmark mowers are made 50 miles south of me, so there are a ton of them around here. Many of the mowing companies use them.

I have run toro mowers on the golf course but I have only run 1 diesel in a toro. It worked fine, but it wasn't used as much as the others.

Don't know if that helped but that is what I know.

Definately go diesel, but not without considering the Kubota "ZD" mowers. They are very well built and are made in Gainesville, Ga, with US and Japanese componets. GREAT machines. I know four people with them and NO issues at all among any of them. Three with the ZD28 and one with the ZD25.

I have a pic with my tweaked up Kubota TG1860 mower. It is a 1999, just before the zero-turn (ZD) series came out. Has a 54" deck and 18 horse D722 3-cylinder Kubota diesel engine. The pumps on Kubotas are easy to tweak and plenty of power (above stock) can be made from them.

I use a Grasshopper with a 28 HP Kubota diesel. I've worked the hell out of it on a 72" mulching deck and a 60" snowblower in the winter and so far it has been flawless. The diesel is nice for power, fuel economy and longevity. It will smoke when I put it to work.

I have a Scag Sabre Tooth Tiger with the Daihatsu turbo diesel on it. I have yet to see a more rugged built mower than the Scag and it's performance with the engine tweaked a bit can only be described as vicious.

Oh boy im seeing a pattern here..... Exmark uses a KUBOTA motor, Grasshopper uses a KUBOTA motor...

KUBOTA is the way to go!!!!

We have a 99 Kubota B2400 loader, mower, 3pt 24hp diesel (garden tractor on steroids) it has over 2000 hrs and NO problems!!! 1 alternator, 1 trans under warranty (user mis-use)

Just bought a KUBOTA ZD28 60" pro deck, 28hp diesel, In 1 1/2 seasons of mowing it currently has 340 hrs and not a single problem! the thickest grass wont bog this sucker!!! it is pretty quick as well!! yet cuts as fast as you can go!

KUBOTA products are well work the $$ spent!!

Im looking to pick up a Kubota 35hp L35 / L39 tractor-loader-backhoe Oo.

We have a 48hp Yanmar turbo diesel Dixie Chopper. This thing has 2800 hours and all we have done is change the oil and air filters. You can not choke it out, itwill snap the deck belt before it it dies.

We haul our mowers on a Freightliner FL70. Acouple years ago we ran the truck out of fuel and it was about a mile and a half to a gas station. So we dropped the "Big Boy" off the back and pushed the truck to the gas station.

Here in Central Virginia we have a Montana brand of tractors with a Z-turn mower powered with a little Cat diesel. Had a chance to play with it, real sweet.

IC Smoke, you are exactly right. There is a REASON everybody wants Kubota engines. They are flawless. Bobcat skid steers run them, many truck mounted forklifts run them, Miller and Hobart diesel welders both offer them. It is tough to beat a Kubota engine. Not sure about the other equipment that uses Kubota engines, but I can honestly testify that Kubota's equipment is every bit as good as its engines.

The Montana tractors are made in Korea by LG. LG is also an excellent company. (they offer cell phones, applainces and chemicals in USA) Korea's quality is about inline with Japan's. We sell Daewoo (Doosan) forklifts. They are totally built in Korea, except for the engines in the 3000-6000 pound capacity units, which use a Mitsubishi gas and Cummins (Japanese built by Komatsu) diesel. They are among the best out there. We also sell Komatsu lifts. Their gas/LPG lifts use Nissan engines and their diesel is Yanmar. Again, great engines and equipment. The diesel in the 8000# capacity and up Komatsu is the 5. 9 Cummins, either with or without a turbo. Still a mechanical pump too (for now). It is tough to beat either Japanese or Korean equipment and just about everyone who builds diesel engines for equipment use builds a good engine. I still prefer Kubota, given a choice though.

I have a john deere with a yanmar 3 cyl diesel. It runs great and can go thru anything, so... If you get a chance to buy a diesel mower take it ex-marks are great ZTR mowers if that'll do it for ya then go fer it
