Anyone put a 2nd Gen Brite Box on a 3rd Gen?

Has anyone tried installing the Brite Boxes designed for the 2nd Gen trucks on a 3rd Gen? According to the literature on the BB website, the only issue may be a few false alarms (a. k. a. "Lamp Out"), which I already get thanks to Dodge's poor attempt at engineering a computer system for the headlights. I really want to get these lights working at the same time, but I don't want to deal with shelling out the cash for TWO brite boxes priced the same amount each as the single unit for the other trucks... .



I have even considered a complete rewiring of the headlight/foglight system on my truck back to an old style and just leavin the computer out of it. Any suggestions or insight????.....

Two brite boxes

You need two boxes as the left and right circuits are not common. The system sees higher load with both elements on and with two Bright Boxes this load is supplied by the brite box power lead. I've never had a lamp out warning and I've had my bright box for a long time. I got one of the Beta test units when they first came out. I like the Brite Box with the fog lamp control. It was harder to get all three lamps on on the 3rd gen than the 2nd gen electrical systems. Ken Irwin

Well I read that in some of the threads that I'd found on here... . but on the supplier's website it clearly stated that when the third gen trucks had first come out, one of the Brightbox dealers attempted to put the box for a 2nd gen truck on a 3rd gen... . the description makes it sound like they didn't run into any major problems aside from a warning light coming on. That's why I asked... . but it appears that no one has tried it or that it doesn't work for other reasons.....



Just a thought... .





I guess I'll try a standalone headlight system more like what is found on the older trucks with a few wires and some relays if I ever get time away from work... .

Look up my post for BOMBing the highbeam (multifunction) switch. I get hi and lo beams together and would have fogs as well if I stil had 'em. Best part is it's FREE.
