Has anyone removed the lower console cover? The piece that is below the ash tray. I am looking for a place to mount my Jordan brake controller, and that area (although a little low) looks like a good place. I am suspecting that the cover is fairly cheap to replace if I decide to pull out the controller later on.

But is there any room behind the cover, and does it just pop off?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

If I remember (only had it off once), the sides engage with hooks. I think I had to sort of pull the sides towards the firewall, releasing the hooks, then the face of the panel pulls back towards the bed (held in place with spring clips).

It was pretty self-explanatory - enough so that I don't remember exactly how it came off :)

Hi Dave,

Yes just pull straight back. Comes off pretty easy. Not much room behind as the hump turns up and the airbag controller is back there. Plenty of room if you build it out though. I built this pod to hold the brake controller, adjustable shocks and air bag controls. I formed it out of 22ga sheet metal. Works and looks good. Most people want to know where I bought the pod from. Pretty easy to make. If all you want to mount is the brake controller you could probably fab a bracket to hold it out and put the stock cover back on behind it. Maybe cut it out a bit to fit the controller.
